George Washington-Founding Father Essay - 1170 Words

George Washington became President in 1789 and since then has been regarded as America’s â€Å"Founding Father†(10). This grand and hero-like status is said to have â€Å"began gravitating to Washington six months before the Declaration of Independence, when one Levi Allen addressed him in a letter as ‘our political Father.’†(10). The preservation of Washington’s role as a national hero has been allowed by authors and the media omitting his many flaws as if they had either been forgotten or were no longer important. Yet by excluding these human faults, they have projected an almost god-like hero and inflicted him upon the nation as their Father, somebody whose â€Å"life still has the power to inspire anyone†(10). When in reality, how can a†¦show more content†¦It is also suggested that Washington was a good man as at the beginning of â€Å"the early 1770s, he rarely bought a slave, and he would not sell one†. In addition to this, the author explains how the â€Å"slaves were to be freed at his wife’s death†. However I am sure that these excuses could not justify his behaviour to Black Americans today. Similarly, can George Washington really be considered a hero, or just an immense hypocrite who owned slaves whilst signed the Declaration of Independence, declaring, â€Å"all men were created equal† (11). Another way that was intended to preserve him as a hero is that he was a â€Å"disapproving owner† (12) and that he would have liked slavery to end but he didn’t personally feel politically driven to put an end to it. George Washington claimed in a letter to Robert Morris that â€Å"there is not a man living who wishes more sincerely than I do, to see a plan adopted for the abolition† of slavery (13). However if he felt so passionately against slavery, he could not have been that heroic or strong as a President as he did not even attempt to implement abolition. It seems that George Washington was fully aware that slavery was morally and humanely wrong, yet was to accustomed to the economic and social ‘benefits’ to want to change the situation. Ironically, the British who George Washington had claimed had been enslaving the American colonies underShow MoreRelatedGeorge Washington : The Founding Fathers901 Words   |  4 PagesGeorge Washington was the president whose ideals where the most coveted among the founding fathers. Sustainable, Environmentally Friendly And Ethical Products

Sustainability turned into a global trend and became an integral part of (fashion) design and production process [1]. It is a stage in the life cycle of fashion garment. Why so? Because it explores approaches such as low impact textiles techniques, zero waste techniques, repair and maintenance techniques, closed-loop design systems, low-impact manufacturing technologies, mono-materiality, design durability, and up cycling. Sustainable fashion, also known as eco fashion, is part of the larger growing trend of creating more sustainable, environmentally friendly and ethical products. Christian Kemp-Griffin, chief mission officer at Edun, an eco-fashion brand that focuses on fair trade for its producers in Africa, says, â€Å"Ethical companies make thoughtful decisions and sell product thinking about the people who make the clothes – wages, human rights, health and safety – and the planet – energy use, biodiversity, organic – which boils the definition of sus tainable, ethical clothes down to: product that benefits people and the planet†. Over the last decade, sustainability and sustainable growth has become one of the most prominent and important topics in our society and sustainability and environmental issues in fashion are not a new idea. In 1990, Vogue wrote about the new environmental trend in fashion. However, sustainable fashion began to take off in the 2000s with Stella McCartney, known for its animal-friendly credentials, was founded in 2001 and Edun in 2005. Create the text for the logo Essay Example For Students

Create the text for the logo Essay General Overview I had to create a logo that would promote the video shop and encourage people to gain membership. I did it in Serif page plus eight and used clipart from the web and used a text wizard from Serif page plus eight to create the text for the logo. This task was predominantly easy; all it involved was creating a logo from text and clipart. It went well because it was particularly easy to do, and it did not contain any hard work or complicated things to do. Obtaining the graphics was harder than I thought it would be. I had to go into MSWord and get the clipart graphics from the Internet. I had to make no modifications to the plan, because the task is so simple. Criteria for Success * Enable customers to set apart the video shop by means of this logo. It enables customers to set apart this video shop by the logo, because it is a unique logo, to which no other video shop has access. This enables the customer to recognise Mercury Entertainment by the logo, and also informs and makes the customer know about us sub-consciously, so that they will know us and trust us when they come to rent from Mercury Entertainment. Be easy to replicate, so that I can put it on the material quickly. It is easy to replicate, because it is in a separate file as a picture on its own, so any program that I use can easily import the picture, rather than having to open Serif page plus eight. Look professional, so that the business gets a good reputation. It looks professional because it is simple and not too colourful or bright. This attracts customers even more than if it was more colourful and kid-like. Conclusion I feel that I have successfully completed what I have set out to do. It is as good as the best logos in business, as it still does the job. I think that it is average produce, and that it will still be identifiable against other logos. I feel what I have done is not of full commercial standard, however, that is not easy to achieve. I also think that it will still look good when on other backgrounds, i. e. a data capture form and a letter. Evaluation I feel that if I had more time I would have been able to produce a more effective and professional logo. Evaluation of Promotion Logo.
